Kindergarten 4 Years Old

Preparation for Prep

A priority for the Kindy Blue children is preparing them for the first step into formal schooling known as Prep.

The Kindy Blue room caters for a maximum of 24 preschoolers aged 4-5 years, in their year before Prep. Your kindergarten child is  is led by a Bachelor-qualified Early Childhood Educator and an Assistant Educator, with assistance from a floating support Educator. The Kindy Blue room features four Mac computer stations, a stage area and high ceilings. The large indoor play space is complimented by connecting veranda area and direct access to the playground which supports the flexible indoor outdoor routines implemented at the Centre.

Throughout their year in Kindy Blue your child will have many opportunities to refine the skills and knowledge they have and develop new ways of learning, thinking and doing things. Your child will be encouraged to express their individuality and personal preferences while also developing their social awareness and feeling of belonging to the group.

Educational Learning for Kindergarten

Many educational projects will develop as part of the curriculum that will give your child opportunities to engage in learning activities such as role play, storytelling, painting and other visual arts and crafts, music, game play, drawing and writing, puzzles and problem solving, experimenting, climbing, digging, and running; the possibilities are endless. Everyday routines and experiences are used as a catalyst for developing children’s literacy and numeracy awareness and understanding.  Your child will be supported by the Educators to express their creativity and develop confidence in their identity.

Educators work in partnership with children to support and extend their ideas and abilities. The social nature of Kindy Blue helps your child work together with classmates to negotiate and reach common goals, to develop communication skills and to explore the benefits and expectations of social life. Appreciation of cultural diversity features strongly throughout the curriculum as children share their life experiences and family backgrounds and learn about those of their peers and Educators.

Throughout the year the program will be inclusive of developing skills such as pre writing, letter sounds, writing their names, and working on skills such as confidence, self esteem, and their independence.
